The Dallas 2035 Food Plan will be a roadmap to a better food system, developed for and by the residents of Dallas. As a document, it will capture the voices of communities around our region, allowing us all to rally around shared goals for our future of food. However, this work won’t begin and end with a document – we’re applying a Human-Centered Design approach to not only develop the goals to be met but also to creating paths to meeting them. By co-creating solutions with residents and taking an iterative prototyping approach to test and prove bold new ideas, the Food Plan is being developed with implementation and impact in mind from the start.
Captures which areas matter most to our community to focus on first, treating a set of goals as a framework for a system
Collects, conceptualizes, and positions solutions for deployment for immediate impact
Shows where the challenges represented in our goals show up across our region, and takes inventory of the programs, services, and partners already in place.
Clarifies who is needed and what roles must be played to make ideas a reality, from city and county agencies to schools, nonprofits, and local businesses
Defines how progress will be measured and what kind of impact we’re trying to achieve
